Weber Carburetors
Weber carburetors are used today on many race cars and have been for over 30 years. Every auto enthusiast has heard the rumble of a mid-sixties V8 racer with Weber 48IDA carburetors thundering down the track. The sound is unique, exhiliarating and unforgettable. It's one of the many reasons vintage racing is such a thrill.
Fabbrica Italiana Carburatori
Weber carburetors were first manufactured in Bologna, Italy by Edoardo Weber.
The one carburetor that is particularly suited to the flat-six boxster type engine on the Porsche 911 is the Weber IDA-3C (downdraft 3-choke). The three-choke carburetor configuration allows tuning of individual cylinders since each cylinder has its own carburetor barrel. The user fine tunes and balances the fuel and air intake into each cylinder, thus maximizing engine performance.
Porsche 911 engines with carburetors came with the Weber carburetors as standard equipment starting with engine number 907 001. Many 911 enthusiasts have employed a popular performance modification by changing the fuel induction system on their cars to Weber triple-barrel carburetors.

engine case, 2.7 Euro high compression piston/cylinder set, 911 E
overhead cams, Weber 40 IDA-3C carburetors, and SSI heat exchangers. This intake, engine, exhaust combination is supposed to develop 210 horsepower. That translates into stellar performance for a 2200 pound car!
