911 car  Porsche introduced a prototype of the 901 series to the public at the Frankfurt International Automobile show in September, 1963. Actual production didn't begin until September, 1964 and by that time the model designation became 911. In February 1965, the Porsche 911 model reached U.S. shores.

The 1965 U.S. car came with a 2.0 liter, 130 horsepower engine. It was equipped with a five speed (type 901) transmission that has the dogleg shift pattern with 1st gear left and down. The car was standard with a single circuit hydraulic braking system and 4 wheel disc brakes. Rack and pinion steering utilizing a 13mm front anti-sway bar gives the driver great feedback. All this was yours for $6,500.
